Luxury watches with Tourbillon Complications

Tourbillon

Tourbillon - one of the most challenging and beautiful watch movement’s complications that increases the accuracy of watch. Specifics of mechanics is that it work can be influenced by external factors, such as changes in temperature and gravity, it brings its own changes whenever the watch is not positioned horizontally with respect to the earth's surface. To eliminate these "side effects" was created tourbillon.

It was invented in 1795 and patented in 1801 by Abraham-Louis Breguet, founder of the famous Swiss watch brand. The device is an anchoring mechanism placed on a rotating platform. It gives the balance of watch in addition to the vibrational and rotational motion. Due to this rotational momentum, balance in one revolution (usually equal to 1 minute) passes all quadrants, fully compensates for the influence of outside forces, such as gravity.

The effect of tourbillon is striking: the accuracy of the watch with this complication is +/- 1-2 seconds in 24 hours. However, even until now tourbillons are a special category of privileged watches, without becoming a mass product. This is due to the fact that the production of the tourbillon - a complex and expensive work. During XX century it was present only in a few models. In the last couple of decades, the development of the watch industry has made a huge leap forward, and were invented more simple and less efficient models of Tourbillon, so the production expanded.

Since the tourbillon - the pride and decoration of the movement, in many models it put on display, a transparent back cover or directly on the dial in the aperture. There are even a fully transparent models, such as Corum Tourbillon Sapphire 999. Some brands improve tourbillon to their liking. Like in Franck Muller Revolution device rotates in the horizontal plane and in a spherical orbit that more reliably compensates for the force of gravity, no matter what position relative to the earth's surface watch is.
