Audemars Piguet HISTORY

With over 130-year history, the watch manufacture Audemars Piguet can argue that they created elite watches and other wonderful things that defined a system of values in a small circle of Haute Horlogerie.
The company was founded in 1875 by Edward-Auguste Piguet and Jules-Louis Audemars, residents of the small town of Le Brassus, at Vallée de Joux. The first one introduced in the production of wrist watches and watch movements authorized capital of 10 000 francs, while the second delivered the 18 sophisticated mechanisms of their own making. By agreement of the parties, Jules-Louis Audemars became technical director, and Edward Piguet - responsible for financial matters of the enterprise. This distribution of powers between the two families continues to this day. Both families, like a hundred years ago, remain the owners of famous watch brand.

The popularity of the company Audemars Piguet rose in 1889, after the triumph, when its watches were presented to the elite at the World Exhibition in Paris. The company opened its first branch in Geneva in 1889. Today, the most elite watch collections from Audemars Piguet are exhibited in the British Museum.
In 1882, the registered trademark of Audemars Piguet & Cie. Also this year uncovered luxury Grande Complication model of pocket watch, which contained minute repeater, perpetual calendar, moon phases indicator, reverse chronological countdown to the minute counter. In 1906, the first year produced watch with minute repeater. In 1946 company manufactures mechanical wristwatch with the hyperfine mechanism, whose thickness is 1.64 mm. Already in 1967 there were wristwatches with automatic movement.

Audemars Piguet has always been able to see into the future. This statement applies not only to technical equipment, but also to the designs.
